Unpacking Our Baggage: The Impact of Systemic Trauma
in the Workplace

Virtual | 2 hours

Virtual Workshop for CalWORKs & CalFresh All Staff

  • 2-hour instructor-led session
  • Capacity: 40 participants

Many of us carry heavy bags–and for good reason. This workshop provides the opportunity to “unpack” the collective baggage we carry from historical and present-day traumas caused by systems of oppression. Explore how these traumas manifest in the workplace and why they can't simply be checked at the curb. Through open discussions and reflective activities, we gain insights into fostering a workplace that acknowledges and actively works to mitigate the effects of systemic traumas, promoting inclusion and equity for those who are impacted.

Upon completion of the Unpacking workshop, participants will:

deepen their understanding of why and how historical, and emotional trauma impacts the ways we show up to work, and how we make space for them and create appropriate internal practices to resist re-traumatization and instead build systems of support.
